Gratitude Changes Everything

I believe that…

barefoot, swings and sunshine

gratitude changes everything.

Experiencing it.
Expressing it.
Creating it.
Practicing it.

Everything in my life changes when I choose to switch my focus from what’s not working to what I appreciate in myself, others and the world around me. My dad passed this gift on to me.

Being grateful flips on my heart switch.

When I choose gratitude, everything in my head–chaos, confusion, frustration–moves. Some days it slides gently into my heart, which then beats softly with appreciation. Other days it races and my heart explodes. Life’s hardness cracks open, becoming soft and tender. My focus: love, appreciation, beauty, wonder. I see the amazingness this thing called “life” offers.

Moments. Memories. Beauty.

Experiencing life with all six senses. I am brought to tears at how BIG this life, this living is. Being among beauty, magic and miracles. Appreciating the feeling of connection, of oneness. Loving all that was, is and will be. Grateful. Deeply grateful.

What do you believe?

This is the first post where I have joined Amy Palko’s invitation to share my Beautiful Beliefs. More information about Amy and her invitation to write about your Beautiful Beliefs can be found HERE

Daily Practice Guide is here!!

Daily Practice Guide

For your mind • body • soul.

368 pages for an eight week experience! Each day has 6 pages… one for mind, body, soul & spirit, intentions & reflections and two blank pages. Use this guide as a coloring book. Have fun, explore. You will be guided by the 14 page instruction guide.

People kept asking, “how can I get some of what you have?” Over the years my answer has been the same… a daily ritual. It has changed and evolved and so will yours.

The purpose of this guide: give you a foundation on how you can feed your mind, body and soul daily. Intentionally live and love life. Notice the beauty and amazing-ness this world we live in offers daily. Hear and connect with the messages of your body, whispers of your soul and use your mind for good in the world!

Whenever I’m off it’s because I’m not doing my daily practice. I’m not feeding and connecting with my mind, body and soul.

At the end of the eight week experience you get to determine what feels good for you and create your own daily practice. But for the next eight weeks… it’s you and me! It’s like coaching (to help you connect) in journal form. xo

Hello lovely people!! Let me tell you how full my heart is. I took off for Phoenix to spend 5 days with 320 extraordinary coaches. The day before I left my newest baby arrived in the mail. The daily practice guide I’ve been working on was delivered. She’s just the right size and to be able to share her with all my colleagues and friends in Arizona – well, was nothing short of amazing.

Thank you to all who have waited patiently for her arrival, cheered me on on the sidelines and held my hand through the deep breathing and pushing.

If you have any questions, please send them my way – jen@jentrulson.com

2011 Reflections, 2012 Intentions and Right Now

I love this time of year!! Looking back at 2011, creating intentions for 2012 and being present, right now!

2011 Reflections

I browse my iCal, Love Life * Be You newsletters and ask my family what they loved most. So what did I come up with? Here are eight great things that happened in 2011:
(sticking with my grateful 8 theme!)

  1. Began the first Inner Circle group. I’ve died and gone to heaven. Thank goodness it’s heaven on earth. The women in this group have made the first Inner Circle everything I imagined and more! Truly beautiful.
  2. Travels to Arizona with coaching girlfriends, Maui with family and friends, Vegas in April with my man and friends, the Hampton’s in June to celebrate SCHOOLS OUT and hang with family, Coeur d’Alene twice in July to – once to celebrate my cousins 40th, the other to speak at my friends Food for Your Soul weekend, Huntington Beach for my Master Training Intensive, Montana for Labor Day, Victoria BC with girlfriends, Arizona (again) to get my Lucky on and ended the year with another trip to NY – Manhattan – to celebrate my nieces Bat Mitzvah and celebrate Christmas with our East Coast family. I love travel!!!
  3. Launched my new website www.jentrulson.com and created a new FREE offer – The Girls Guide to Living Each Day on Purpose!
  4.  Became a Master Coach for Martha Beck!! The journey was amazing and I made some new friends along the way. Deeply grateful. In the process I did the tele-series “How to Live Your Worst Life” with a couple crazy sister coaches, wrote one of my most popular blogs I’m not happy, and worked with horses.
  5.  My oldest started driving (permit), my son started high school, my youngest started middle school. Where does the time go?!
  6.  Co-led Wellness Leap at Lululemon in Bellevue WA. Women set goals, built new friendships and won prizes! Also launched Free to Be then realized this was not meant to be born right now. Co-led Falling for GREAT in honor of Thanksgiving for the 2nd year in a row!
  7.  Created a Gratitude Journal… with a twist. I love them and yeehaw… clients and coaches do too, which is much more important!!
  8. Participated in Celebrate Balance on Capitol Hill, Mom Gets a Life Tele-party and The Choose Love Project!

Love reflecting! Now what?

2012 Intentions

Oh the choices!! I’ve given you a few links below to ideas I’ve enjoyed or am trying this year for the first time (12in12).

This year I got crazy!! I started out choosing a Word for my Year. My word… MORE. Read MORE about it here!

Then I reread Chris Brogan’s Three Words and I chose… Write. Fun. Magic. All these go hand in hand with MORE. MORE writing. MORE fun. MORE magic.

Next I tapped into my Deep Desires – delicious! Taste it here.

Lastly, there is 12in12. My family got excited about this one too. I’m starting January off with 25 a day. 25 crunches every single day. Hurts so good!! There is good reason behind it too, headed to Maui in February :) Follow the 12in12 fun here!

Right Now

Right now… it’s 7:00 pm on 1/2/12. The kids go back to school tomorrow. The house will be silent. My son is asleep. My daughters are playing on their iPhone and iPod on the couch. I’m sitting next to my husband who is watching college football. Stanford vs Oklahoma. We are all in our comfies, I’m wearing my noise canceling head phones while I write. Today I pulled Soul Coaching cards for my year. I wasn’t sure I liked what I picked, so I shuffled, cut the cards, and re-picked the cards. Guess what, same cards. I’m not making this shit up either. I was like – WHAT??!! (Magic). Wisdom, Power, Action. Then I drew my Life Purpose card for the year – School. I thought, no way, I am not doing any more schooling! So guess what I did. Shuffled, cut the cards and drew again. I kid you not, you KNOW what I’m about to say. The card is, once again, School. Argh. I laugh. Ok, let’s see what’s in store for me. (MORE magic)

Wishing you a year of loving life and being you, on purpose and MORE!

Sweet Reflections.

What is ONE great thing that happened in YOUR 2011?

Is it really October? September flew by and here are 8 random things I loved about it…

  1. Montana over Labor Day with family and friends. Surrounded by nature, fall mornings, motorcycle riding, local town plays, and the Helmville Rodeo!!!
  2. Two trainings start. (1) MindBody Coach Training. Abigail. A couple Master Coaches, some Certified Coaches, old LCT friends, some new friends and an Irish lovely. (2) Got to spend two separate days with the inspiring Susan Hyatt and the Lucky 7 Crew. Love the action and inspiration.
  3. Back to school! Daytime routines.
  4. Carpools – I can’t imagine if I had to drive my three kids to and from each of their sporting practices and games. Huge shootout to my crazy carpooling parents / buddies !!!
  5. My sister in law, Jennifer Gardner-Trulson, comes to town for her book signing (even though I missed it, I was there in spirit) and  share her story of 9/11.
  6. Celebrate my soul sister Jessica’s baby birthday (so young!) in Victoria BC with 5 amazing girlfriends for four days.
  7. See Lori’s new space and be treated in it.
  8. Health and my family. We’ve (my man, kids and self) experienced some pretty bad fall colds and an emergency surgery,  so I am very grateful for my family and good health. It’s not taken for granted.

Love. Period.

Love. Is there anything else? We seem to think so – or should I say our ego does. However, when we are operating from our soul, love IS all there is. Today, in particular I’ve been reminded of love. For some reason the powers that be are pumping me full of love messages – and I’m soaking it up (and passing it on to you!).

First, I get Sera Beak’s newsletter and this natural yet bold Revolution pic jumps out at me.

Then I’m reading “Spirit Junkie” by Gabrielle Bernstein and she’s talking about forgiveness and how we can choose to see the lightness or darkness in others. When we judge/attack others, in essence we are judging/attacking ourselves. Bottom line, what we see or notice in others is a reflection of what is within us. Forgiveness is not about letting the other person off the hook – it’s about releasing ourselves. We are set free when we choose love over fear. When we forgive ourselves, and others, a shift in energy occurs. This shift affects us and everyone around us. Relationships change. The world changes. I know forgiveness can be tough. I am still working on forgiving a few people in my life. I’m determined to see love and feel peace. (keep ya posted!)

Then I get an email from my sweet soul sister and damn amazing coach Jessica Steward that says…

“The only thing that is real is love. If it doesn’t feel like love, it’s not real. That is all that matters.”

delicious huh. Go ahead read it again. Yummy!
Oh, AND, I neglected to mention… my Louise Hay calendar for today says:

Love is the power behind everything. I am guided every step of the way. All is well.

Can you hear the messages of love that surround you?
They’re there!!
I promise!!
Get still and notice what the Universe is saying and sending you!!

Oh, and the angels gave me these messages, yes, I pull Angel cards! And before I hit the publish button, Martha Beck appears in my inbox…

“Love doesn’t need words.”

Thank you Martha. I love LOVE.

And on that note, I’m off to…

  • crank The Beattles and sing All You Need is Love, Love, Love is All You Need!
  • continue to be open and  listen to messages from the Divine
  • follow, feel and be love. period.
What message(s) about love have you received??

July 2011 Grateful 8

Huntington Beach Master TrainingIt’s my birthday and I can’t think of anything I’d rather do than reflect on my July and the amazing moments, people and places. Eight amazing and normal things I’m grateful for…

  1. celebrating Angel’s 40th birthday (LOVE YOU SOMATS)  - this one was loaded! I also got to road trippin’ with Samantha (my oldest!) to get there, met another Martha Beck Coach while in the area – spent 2+ plus hours connecting to ourselves and the divine, got to see people and family I haven’t seen in far too long, got an iPhone (sorry Sev), visited my elementary school girlfriend Lori and meet her kids, drove by the house I grew up in, booked a room with Hotwire and LOVED it and last but not least got to experience 80 degree weather… SUNSHINE!
  2. spent 4th of July with a bunch of our all time favorite friends!!! Kids running around, games being played, sea-doos being rode, food, music, laughter, fireworks – could it get any better?! Nope.
  3. six days in Huntington Beach with 14 amazing people who are now friends AND colleagues. Walked barefoot on the beach, broke wide open, cried, connected, laughed became a Master Certified Life Coach – thank you Martha Beck!! Worked with horses, intuition, body-mind connection and coaching coaching (and more coaching). I can’t help but give shout-outs to each one of you… Amy Pearson (you spin like no other), CrisMarie Campbell (your smile lights up a room), Gina Clowes (you have the HUGEST heart), Andy Newman (wordlessness, thank you), Lin Eleoff (you are the BEST worst I’ve ever experienced), Jennifer Armstrong (love girl, love), Sue Robertson (we are going to create magic together!), Lori Race (I heart you), Jessica Steward (born to be together), Michael Trotta (special… seriously), Koelle Simpson (you are a gift), Abigail Steidley (let’s play hair again!), Bridgette Boudreau (full on LOVE), Martha Beck (so normal)… simply, I LOVE YOU ALL!!
  4. my oldest started drivers ed and is doing mah-va-less!! So nice being driven around.
  5. got to speak at Food For Your Soul Luncheon in Coeur d’Alene Idaho. Create memories with Jill, Lori and their family. The laughter of women was the best. The bloody mary’s and food… delish and beautiful!! The day gorgeous. My soul was filled.
  6. my 10 year old turned 11!! My mama turned 60 (you got good genes mom! following in your footsteps!). Grandmother turned 90!! Angel turned 40. Thought about my dad on his birthday. Some super heart warming and special birthdays this month.
  7. an overnight trip with friend and neighbor Vicki to pick up our girls – restful, relaxing and special.
  8. swim meets – watching my girl, she loves to swim!

Horseplay Part II

working with horses“I don’t know how to play with my body or voice,” I say choking back the tears. A line I shared from Horseplay Part I. The energy in my body went from feeling constricted, stuck in my throat, tears trying their hardest to escape my eyes to… my body literally vibrating, feeling light, and radiating love and fun, no agenda, just being me. Yes, this feels better. This was the feeling Koelle wanted us to embrace that day. This was the energy the horses responded to. When we step into our power proclaiming our truth something powerful happens.

We can lead, communicate and connect… even without words.

So why was it so hard to play – using my body and my voice? I got so damn serious! We get caught up in how we want to ace it, what we should say, how it should look, who we should be as insert role here. (i.e. mom, wife, coach, business owner, employee).

You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation.”  ~ Plato

Yes, I play. I play well with my kids, so well, they are mortified most of the time which tickles me like nothing else. (Memories!) However, this particular day, in that moment working with the horses, I forgot how to play because I was trying. Reflecting over your week, can you recall a time where you were “trying” and it didn’t ‘feel’ good? What did it feel like in your body? Where did you feel it? Was it big, small, textured, colored, hot, cold, etc.? Great, now remember what that feels like and next time you experience it, ask yourself… Is this an opportunity for me to back off (aka “let go”), play and watch the magic? Then, grab your crazy self and play… as in get big, use your voice, kick your feet and play!!! Need some help?

  • Turn up the song SHOUT and get a little bit louder now, dance like mad.
  • Find some kids, they’ll help you get your play on.
  • Sign up for a dance class and shake your groove thing.
  • Watch a comedy and laugh out loud or roll on the floor laughing!

Life doesn’t have to be hard. WE make it hard when we are trying, making, pushing. That horse was a mirror for me. Showing me what I was energetically putting out. When I tried to control him, he turned away. When I got playful, he said, ok, let’s play! Like attracts like. Watch your life, your business, your relationships change when you decide to stop trying and choose to play. Others see the ease in which you move, feel your energetic presence and YOU give them permission to be themselves!

What three things can you do to invoke more play in your day?

Get a little bit louder now
Get a LITTLE BIT louder NOW
GET A LITTLE BIT LOUDER NOW!
